Up to this point ive never invested any money into pedals. Mainly as a singer I had used guitar as a vehicle of songwriting. Im familiar with mmost of the effect through my DAW and from line 6 pod, and my spark 40. I want to build a pedal board without breaking the bank. Any recommendations? Im mostly playing rock, indie, country and blues. Read good things about Boss Ds-1 and Ibanez tube screamer for distortion. What do you folks think?
Both are great pedals, but I implore you to go to a guitar store and bring your guitar and amp or find the same ones at the store and test the overdrive and distortion pedals. I personally love the boss blues driver and the new MXR duke of tone is great as well as the jhs morning glory, but really listen to how the pedals interact with your gear and find ones that you like. The reviews can be misleading in both aspects, either for better or worse. Would also highly recommend used pedals because new pedals, especially when buying for a first pedal board can be very pricey and used pedals work just the same. (if anyone else has comments leave them, I am far from a pedal expert)
