maybe this is a noob question but I am confused, on all the 3 note patterns, you skip the last/top e string?
Do you mean like when hes talking about modes and stuff and in the next lesson when he plays the modes he skips the high e string? Cause im confused about that

on the diagram it shows that the mode scales go on all 6 strings,
so not really sure why he skipped on those

I think Tyler doesn't play the high E string in the practice video because when ascending and descending, he wanted to end on the same note. For example, in G Ionian the lowest note he plays is a G and the highest note he plays is a G. Sounds a bit more "musical" this way I guess.
You can definitely practice using all six strings, it's just more appeasing to the ear the way Tyler did it!
Dosent he stop at the g note anyway?
You start and stop on root notes when practicing scales or playing only the full 7 note scales..so if root is on low e u will reach high e on b string..3 octaves up...if root on a string...3 Rd octave higher will end in high e string...
