Fusion usually means fusing two genres together to form one super genre. These licks are primarily jazz fused with R&B fused with rock fused with awesome. Before I experimented with fusion guitar playing, I always thought of each chord change as requiring its own chord scale, rather than trying to blend or "fuse" the notes to yield a more cohesive and natural sound.
